Exhibition: Els Banys de la Reina, the Roman Footprint

The archaeological site of Baños de la Reina is located along the coastal strip between Calp's urban center and its port, at the foot of the Peñón de Ifach. In Roman times, it covered over 5,000 square meters and was classified as a vicus, a small settlement without urban status under the jurisdiction of the municipium of Dianium. The exhibition delves into the history of this site, its evolution, and its significance in the agricultural and fishing exploitation of the region. By the early 1st century AD, Dianium administered a fertile coastal territory rich in agricultural and fishing resources. By the late 1st century, a residence with baths was constructed at Baños de la Reina, surrounded by new residential areas and service zones, along with coastal pools for fresh fish consumption, known as the 'baños de la reina mora.'
