A Grateful and Thoughtful Farewell Today, with a mixture of conflicting emotions and deep personal reflection, I have made the difficult decision to end my membership at this gym. For over a decade, this place has been much more than just a place to work out; it has been a cornerstone of my routine, a place where I have not only strengthened my body, but also where I have been fortunate to cultivate valuable friendships and meet wonderful people. My sincere thanks to Sergio, whose unwavering support and dedication have been fundamental to my journey here. His presence and commitment have undoubtedly been an essential part of my loyalty to this center over the years. Unfortunately, the excellent experience I enjoyed for so long has deteriorated significantly, reaching a point that, for me, has become unsustainable. The main source of my dismay lies in the growing lack of consideration and respect shown by some of the gym's users. It's discouraging to see how certain individuals fail to ask permission to share equipment, ignore shifts, fail to clean equipment after use, monopolize machines, or leave weights unattended on the floor. Beyond the discomfort these behaviors generate, the lack of empathy and assertiveness culminated today in a situation of direct disrespect toward me, creating a truly hostile environment. What's more disappointing, and what truly marks a turning point for me today, is the perceived indifference and inaction on the part of management regarding this issue. When I complained about a client's disrespectful behavior toward me, this inaction was further compounded by one of the two gym members. He not only dismissed my perspective on what had happened, but also addressed me in an unprofessional and heightened tone, stating that I was wrong and that I shouldn't dare argue in "his house," despite my demeanor throughout being calm and non-aggressive. This type of treatment by management is, in my opinion, unacceptable and is the reason why I decided not to continue the debate any further, either with him or with the client in question. A gym should be a sanctuary where one can focus on their workouts and feel comfortable and respected. However, the persistence of uncivil behavior and passivity, and even the treatment received from management itself, has transformed it into a frustrating and unpleasant experience. It is an immense shame to have to say goodbye to a place with so much personal history, but I believe that the quality of the environment and mutual respect are fundamental pillars. The excellence of a gym is not only measured by its facilities, but also, and crucially, by the atmosphere and the consideration of its users. I hope my experience today does not affect yours. Gimnasio Troya Calpe remains an option worth considering for those looking for a place to train.
