Beautiful sculpture that refers to a historical event in the year 1740.

Monument located at the end of Elche Park, on the Poniente Beach Promenade. It commemorates Our Lady of Suffrage. "Legend has it that on March 15, 1740, news reached Benidorm that a ship was drifting through the bay, dragged by the Levante storm. It had apparently lost its rigging, was half-sunk, and had no crew on board. Several sailors put to sea in a lute to prevent the shipwreck and rescue the vessel. From the shore, the neighborhood watched in the distance as boats slowly sailed toward the western inlet, towing a large ship toward land. Upon arrival, they saw that on the stern of the ship was a Virgin Mary with the Child Jesus in her arms. After further proceedings initiated by the Judge of the Navy, assisted by a notary, an order was received from the Corregidor of Alcoy and Captain General of Valencia, Marquis of Cayluz, ordering the ship to be burned, since It was reported that its crew had likely died after contracting the plague. After the fire had consumed the boat, with only ashes remaining on the sand, the local children began searching for scraps of ironwork among the burned wood, surprisingly finding the image of the Virgin Mary, undamaged and undamaged. During the Major Patron Saint Festival of Benidorm, held from November 13 to 17, a reenactment of how the Virgin of Suffrage of Benidorm rose from the ashes takes place.
