The Búnker de la playa de Altea offers a glimpse into Spain’s Civil War history, with two remaining concrete casamatas built in 1937 by the Republican army. Located on the beaches of L'Olla and Cap Negret in Altea, these 5-metre-long, 1.85-metre-high structures were designed to defend the bay from naval attacks but were never used. The L'Olla bunker is preserved behind a metal door, while the Cap Negret bunker is partially submerged and often flooded. Since 2017, the town has worked to restore and preserve these historical sites, including archaeological efforts to clear sediment. You can only see inside at low tide.
It's nothing special. Many people say you can't go in, but I did. It's actually a small bunker, and you can't really see the beach from there. I think there are much more interesting places nearby, like the Albir lighthouse or the beach itself next to the bunker. I wouldn't go specifically to see it, but if you're passing by, it might not be a bad idea to take a look.
