Whether at sunrise or sunset, the cross stands as a symbol of Benidorm’s rich heritage and natural beauty.
Perched atop Serra Gelada in Benidorm, La Cruz de Benidorm has offered sweeping city and coastal views since its 1962 installation. This 18-metre-high landmark was originally erected as a symbolic protest after the Franco government permitted bikinis on local beaches. Recently renovated, its lighting now features 15 energy-efficient LED panels (61W each) replacing the outdated 20-panel system, while the structure itself receives protective ocre-coloured paint and base improvements. Reachable via buses L1, L2, L4 or L22 (followed by a 38-minute walk) or by car (parking available on Calle Pekín), the cross remains a striking viewpoint over Benidorm’s skyline and Mediterranean coastline. Beautiful views, I recommend watching the sunset from this spot
Incredible views! We walked the whole way; cars are prohibited, but people were driving up to the top of the cross. The climb is steep, but it was totally worth the effort. The sunset from there is breathtaking.
