Torre Bombarda o de la Punta de l'Albir

Torre Bombarda, also called Torre de la Punta de l'Albir, is a 16th-century coastal watchtower located on Punta Bombarda at the northern edge of Sierra Helada in Calpe. Built as part of a defensive network against pirate attacks, it now stands as a truncated pyramid-shaped base about four metres high, constructed from masonry and lime mortar. Archaeological findings reveal traces of its original circular design, with a cistern once located nearby.

The tower housed two or three guards who monitored the coastline from an upper level, accessed by a removable wooden ladder. Historical records from 1585 describe it as already ruined, though guards continued patrols from the area. Visitors can reach the site via trails near Faro de El Albir.
